Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory - ElizabethtownArlene H. Trimmer, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 9, 2026. She was born July 18, 1933, in Mount Joy Township, PA and resided most of her life in Elizabethtown, PA. For the last few years of her life, she lived in Temple, PA at the home of her daughter. She was the daughter of the late Miller M. Hess and Almeda Ruhl Hess. She was the beloved wife of Russell Tyler Trimmer, who predeceased her in 1997.
She was a 1951 graduate of Mount Joy High School, where she played on the softball team. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was a successful businesswoman. She owned and operated the soda fountain at the Market Basket in Elizabethtown in the 1950s and the Montogomery Ward catalog store in the 1970s. She was a member of Christ UCC Church in Elizabethtown, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Elizabethtown Chapter #407. An avid sports fan, she especially loved following the Philadelphia Phillies on radio and TV. In her later years, some of her best memories were traveling to visit her sisters in Arizona and New Mexico, and time spent with family and friends at the family’s summer cottage on Stony Creek near Dauphin, PA.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Starr (Vaughn Starr) Temple, PA, Thomas Trimmer (Wendy Trimmer), Punta Gorda FL, and Michael Trimmer (Gina Meckley), Harrisburg, PA; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Molly Glazewski, Rapid City, SD, Janet Nerling, Silver City, NM, and Carole Farrow, Demming, NM. She was predeceased by her sister, JoAnn Zimmerman and two grandsons.
Our family would like to publicly thank Senior Life, Reading for all its wonderful services that allowed us to care for our mother at home during her last years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 18, 2026 at 11:00AM at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA. Visitation with the family at 10:00 AM, followed by luncheon, and a private burial at Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery.
