Janice C. Heberlig, 88, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She was born March 29, 1937 to the late Dean and Ruth (Swartz) Cramer. She was one of four children, born on the farm in Newburg, PA. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, George M. Heberlig since February of 2024.

Jan was on the school yearbook and newspaper committee in High School. She graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1954. She worked at the Letterkenny Army Base after high school. George was stationed at Sandia Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico and she worked at the base while he was stationed there. They began their traveling at that time, traveling to 48 states.

She was a Boy Scout Den Leader and a Girl Scout Troop leader she was also very active with her church, Christ Church United Church of Christ, Elizabethtown. Jan was an excellent seamstress and she crocheted for her family members. More than anything she was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She is survived by her son, Eric W. Heberlig and wife Christine; son-in-law, Kevin Rider; grandchildren, Erin Rider, Meghan Rider, George Heberlig and wife Madison, Elizabeth Heberlig and companion Connor Shoop; brothers, Lee Cramer and Calvin Cramer and wife Teresa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jody Rider, and brother Ron Cramer.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 11:30 am at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Reverend Galen Russel officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:30 am until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to her church, Christ Church United Church of Christ, 247 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or to the Londonderry Fire Company, 2655 Foxianna Rd., Middletown, PA 17057.
