Arlene "Ozzie" Walley passed away at home on July 21, 2023, in
Chicago, IL. She was surrounded by her loving daughters and granddaughter during her final days.
Born on December 6, 1935, Ozzie lived her entire life in Southeast Chicago. She cherished lifelong friendships and was a devoted friend to many. A retired blueprint operator at Amoco/BP refinery in Whiting, Ozzie most defined herself through her church. She was secretary at Bethesda Lutheran Church on the East Side for many years and later became an active member of Lebanon Lutheran Church in Hegewisch. Ozzie was a past member of the Swedish Andr Lodge #19. She also served as the President of Gallistel PTA and, in her youth, enjoyed being a Girl Scout.
Ozzie leaves a lasting network of close friends and family who cherished her deeply. She was a devoted wife to the late Charles W. Walley and the loving daughter of A. Lawrence Hansen and Ethel L. Mattson Hansen. She was also a beloved sister to brother Robert (late Patricia) Hansen, Sr.. She was the caring daughter-in-law of the late William H. Walley and sister-in-law to the late William J. (late Grace) Walley and the late Kenneth Walley.
Ozzie will be remembered with great love by her three daughters, Joelyn Walley, Christine Walley (Chris Boebel), and Susan Walley. She will also be fondly remembered as the proud "Mormor" to grandchildren Nhan Boebel and Linnea Grace Walley-Rye. Her memory will be cherished by her nieces and nephews as well as family friends and fellow church members.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Griesel Jimenez Stodden Funeral Home, 10240 S. Ewing Avenue,
Chicago, IL 60617.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 13100 S. Manistee Ave,
Chicago, IL 60633. There will be time for friends and family to share memories of Ozzies life.
Ozzie Walley touched the lives of all who knew her with her humor, energy and devotion to family and friends. After years of declining health, she has found her peace. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
