Arlene Fran Wright - "Her cares were never too many and everyone was her friend."
Arlene Fran Wright, age 79, of Ellabell passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Mrs. Fran was born on January 13, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Benjamin S. Gorman, Sr. and the late Marjorie Aileen Davis Gorman. Fran met the love of her life while bowling and married Donald E. Wright in 1977 and they became inseparable. She retired from banking after working over 35 years with Bank of America. Fran was an active member of Faulkville Baptist Church where she was also involved in the Senior Bible Study Group, Young at Heart. She was an avid gardener; she loved plants, creating flower beds and watching her hummingbirds. She enjoyed watching the Braves, going on cruises, and attending the dog races in Florida. She was known for being the matriarch of her family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with the ones she loved. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" by her family who will fondly remember her birthday phone calls, her caring nature, and the love she had for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Donald E. Wright; and brother, Richard W. Gorman.
Survivors include her son, Sonny Wright (Carmen Cribbs); daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Tommy Chu; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sig & Sandra Gorman and Dr. Greg & Nancy Gorman; grandchildren, Brandon (Alayna) Wright, Victoria (Matthew) Waters, Turner, Jillian, and Cooper Chu; great grandchildren, Grey, River, and Harrison; special nieces and nephews, Kristen (Clay-Riley) Valentine, Sara Anne (Chris) Lincoln, Tara (Brandon) Bass, Jeff (Sandi) Gorman, and Rich (Dori) Gorman; and a host of nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
