Arnold Gresham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home - Wichita Falls on Feb. 1, 2026.
Arnold Edgar Gresham passed into his heavenly home on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born April 16, 1948, in Quanah, Texas, to Arnold A. and Dorothy J. Devoll Gresham.

His family moved to Vernon, Texas, where he grew up and graduated from Vernon High School as a proud member of the Class of 1966. He entered Texas Tech University that fall, often saying it was "not just the best school, but the only school."

Working full time while attending school, Arnold earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech in 1971. He went on to a 40-year career as an accountant serving the oil and gas, manufacturing, defense, and healthcare industries, specializing in auditing, financial reporting, and project management. He retired in 2015 to spend more time with his family.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Arnold was deeply involved in his family's lives and always the first to help when anyone called. He often said serving others was not his duty, but his privilege and a blessing.

Arnold loved sports from a young age, playing football through junior high and high school and earning a spot as a starting lineman for the Vernon Lions. He remained a lifelong Texas Tech Red Raiders fan, attending games as a student and rarely missing one afterward, cheering them on from home.

Arnold had many interests. As a young man, he joined the Masons and supported their community work. An avid ham radio operator, he learned Morse code, earned his licenses, and connected with fellow operators around the world. For many years, he was a dedicated scoutmaster who loved camping, hiking, and fireside cooking. He also enjoyed gardening, making salsa from homegrown peppers and tomatoes, and reading his favorite authors.

In later years, Arnold lovingly cared for his parents and in-laws, reflecting his strong Christian faith. He studied his Bible daily to deepen his relationship with God.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cheryl; his children James (Michelle), Robert (Jamie), Leslie, and Amanda (Manuel); his sister, Helen Ross; and his beloved grandchildren Hannah, Aiden, Gabriel, Ciarán, Lucy, Levi, and Abigail. He is also survived by many cousins and extended family members, all of whom he loved like brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Dorothy Gresham; his infant brother, Danny Gresham; his in-laws, Gene and Mary Keeler; and his sister-in-law Ellen Keeler. He was also preceded by beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation and a family-led Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Wichita Falls. A graveside service and burial will follow Tuesday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Rosemont Cemetery.
