Arnold "Woodie" H. Gripp, 83, of Hines Township, MN died on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck, MN with Alyssa Lyons officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #372 of Blackduck, MN. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN at a later date.
"Woodie" was born on September 6, 1942 in O'Brien Township, MN to Arthur and Erma (Gustafson) Gripp. He attended Blackduck schools, graduating in 1960. He was drafted into the US Army in November of 1964 and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged in December of 1966 with the rank of SP4. He married Kandee Sue Hanson on August 8, 1969 in Bemidji, MN. They moved to Colorado briefly where he worked in Construction. They moved back to his family's farm near Blackduck Minnesota where he ran the farm and logged the rest of his life.
"Woodie" was a member of the Blackduck American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Bemidji. He enjoyed spending time & visiting with people and worked alongside his good friend Larry Gross on his farm after his retirement. He also especially loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
"Woodie" is survived by his wife, Kandee Gripp of Hines Township; his son, Scott (Renae) Gripp of Eveleth, MN; 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth and Maggie Gripp of Eveleth, MN; 2 sisters, Donna Jean (Jerry) Larson of Hines, MN and Judith Smith of Deer River, MN; brother, Jerry Gripp of Tenstrike, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy Hanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Erma Gripp; daughter, Melanie Ann Gripp; sister, Janet Anderson; 3 brother-in-laws, Ronald Hanson, Doug Smith, & "Jiggs" Anderson; and father & mother -in-law, Robert and Jacquelyn Hanson.
