Arnold Kovalevsky was born on December 25, 1935 in Odessa, Ukraine, formerly the Soviet Union. He died on September 30, 2025 at home surrounded by his family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Three months short of reaching 90 years of age, Arnold lived a full life and experienced many joys and his share of hardships. As a child he survived the horrors of World War II. As a young man he was a brilliant student and athlete, loved scuba diving, and was a superb chess player. He was married to Anzhela and they were never separated in life. He joins her now in the afterlife.

In 1979 they immigrated to the United States to build a better life for their family. Arnold was a dedicated and respected worker, an avid reader, a fountain of knowledge, a fierce competitor, a perfectionist in all he did, and a loyal and beloved friend. He was a tender and nurturing father. He dedicated his life to giving his only child a superb education and every opportunity for success.

He is survived by his son George, his grand-daughter Bella, and his daughter-in-law Diana.

In lieu of gifts, please make donations to HIAS https://giving.hias.org/-/NEELUSAL. This Jewish organization made it possible for Arnold and his family to come to the U.S. 46 years ago and continues to help refugees around the world build new lives.
