John Kovalevsky

1935 - 2024

Kovalevsky, John, - 88, of Egg Harbor Township, went to be with the Lord, his Savior on May 23, 2024.John was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine. As a young boy, John and his family were forced to flee their homeland during the throes of WWII. After spending time in various work and displaced persons camps, John and his family arrived by boat in New York harbor in 1949 and made a life for themselves. As a young man, John met his sweetheart and "Number 1", Dorothy Leszczyn at a dance. John and Dorothy married in August 1957. They raised a family in central New Jersey, later moving to South Jersey to be closer to children and grandchildren. John was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and had a successful career in accounting and finance.

To say that John was a people person would be an understatement. All who knew John loved him. John was also a devout patriot. He was enormously thankful to his adoptive country, America, for all the blessings that she bestowed on him and his loved ones. But most of all, John loved, adored and was tremendously proud of his family; his daughter, Lynda Long; his son Michael Kovalevsky (Marlene Barbera Kovalevsky); and grandsons Phillip and Bryan Kovalevsky. John was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; and his brother Nicholas Kovalevsky. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all of John's caregivers who provided him with love, support, and companionship during his brief illness at both Shore Memorial Hospital and United Methodist Communities at The Shores. A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2024 6 to 7 p.m. at Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc.1650 New Road Northfield, NJ 08225. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 12 p.m. at the St. Andrews Ukrainian Orthodox Church 280 N. Main Street Bound Brook, NJ 08880.
