Arnold Kenneth Lorensberg

Arnold Lorensberg, age 97 of Clear Lake, SD passed away at his home on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Funeral service will be held at 10:30a.m. on Friday, May 26th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake, SD. Houseman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Arnold Kenneth Lorensberg was born July 9, 1925 to Rudolph Ellen (Johnson) Lorensberg. He was born on a farm east of Langford, SD. He played the accordion for dances when he was younger with his brother, cousin and a couple of friends. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955.
On September 15, 1952 he married Stella Herr-Pesall in Watertown, SD. They lived on the Lorensberg family farm from 1952 to 1955. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND for two years and worked on the railroad one summer while he was in that area. Arnold worked for Deuel Telephone at Estelline for two and a half years and later moved to Clear Lake where he worked for the phone company for 30 years until his retirement in 1987. He helped many other phone companies in SD and MN with installing and finding the trouble with the switch boards. After his retirement he drove cars for Fritz Chevrolet.
Arnold enjoyed his family as he and his wife of 69.5 years babysat grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing the accordion with many family members and friends in several nursing homes throughout the years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was also was a member of the Clear Lake Fire Departmen, the Charles-Curry American Legion and the Star. He served on the Clear Lake city council for 16 years. Arnold was awarded NTCA Key Employee award in Dallas, TX in 1985.
Arnold was the father of Debra (Dale) Bublitz, Clear Lake, SD; grandfather of Mike Anderson, Teri Durfee, Jayme Anderson, Jeanne Bublitz, Jennifer Jensen;11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella; son, Ron and one great-grandson, Dylan along with his siblings and numerous in-laws.
