Arnold Monhollen, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, in Wyandotte, Michigan, at the age of 91. He was born on August 18, 1933, in Siler, Kentucky, to Oscar and Lizzie Monhollen.
Arnold dedicated his professional life to serving as a Union Representative for General Motors-Cadillac, where he earned the respect of many for his steadfast commitment to the rights and well-being of his colleagues. His career was marked by a deep dedication to his work and those he represented.
In his younger years, Arnold found joy and relaxation in golfing, a hobby that reflected his love for being outdoors and engaging with friends. Known affectionately as a "people person," Arnold's greatest joy came from spending time with his family, particularly his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, who were truly the light of his life. He was a proud "Papa" and very active in his grandchildren's life.
Arnold was a proud member and active participant of the Michigan Masonic community, Shriners, V.F.W, Kentucky Colonel, as well as a UAW retiree. His life was characterized by service, camaraderie, and an enduring spirit of generosity.
Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lizzie Monhollen, daughter Belinda and his siblings Fred, Viola, Floyd, Roy, Mary, James, and Genny, Arnold leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.
He is survived by his beloved children: Carla (David) Duckett, Michael (Ami) Vanhooser, Arnold (Sandy) Monhollen Jr., and Elizabeth (Russell) Engle. His grandchildren, David Duckett II, Kayla (Josh) Stiles, Danielle Duckett, Gabrielle Oakley, and AJ Monhollen, will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. Arnold also leaves behind a great-grandchild, Waylon Stiles, and numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his kindness and humor.
Arnold Monhollen's life was a testament to the power of love, community, and family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Detroit Goodfellows and the Shriners.
