East Providence - Arthur R. Aguiar, known affectionately as Arthur to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in East Providence on Monday, October 6, 2025. Born on June 27, 1963, in Providence, Rhode Island, Arthur was the cherished son of the late Antonio R. and Maria Joana (Correia) Aguiar, Jr. He spent his entire life in East Providence, where he established deep roots and created countless memories.
Arthur is survived by a loving family who will miss his presence dearly. He was the brother of Antonio Rego Aguiar, III, and his wife Maggie of East Providence, Steve Aguiar and his wife Audrey of Seekonk, MA, and Lucy Ferreira and her husband Bill of Bristol. He was also the adored uncle of Loriann, Tony, Matthew, Ashlie, Zachary, Shawn, and Katherine, as well as the great-uncle to five great-nieces and nephews who brought him immense joy.
For over 15 years, Arthur was a dedicated employee at Walmart stores, where his hard work and commitment were well known and appreciated. He was a familiar and friendly face to many, embodying the values of service and responsibility throughout his career.
Arthur's passions and interests were a reflection of his loving and generous spirit. An East Providence resident all his life, he had a deep appreciation for his hometown. He enjoyed fishing, finding peace and contentment by the water. A true sports enthusiast, Arthur's loyalty was unwavering, especially for his favorite teams: the NY Mets, the Lakers, and the Blackhawks, and LA Rams. His gentle nature was evident in his love for the game, whether he was cheering on a winning play or consoling fellow fans after a tough loss.
Those who knew Arthur would describe him as the epitome of loving, generous, and gentle. His kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. His generosity knew no bounds, and his gentle demeanor was a comforting presence in any room.
Arthur's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the simple joys of life. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his hearty laugh, and the gentle kindness that he extended to all. As we bid farewell to Arthur R. Aguiar, we celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind and whose memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
Arthur's life will be commemorated in a private ceremony, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and celebrate the countless ways he enriched their lives. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but the love and memories shared will forever remain. Rest in peace, dear Arthur; your spirit lives on in the lives you've touched.
