ARTHUR ROBERT BERGSTRESSER, born May 23, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the fourth of five boys born to Arthur Edward and Susan (Millik) Bergstresser. Art was raised in a home built by his father and attended school in North Royalton, Ohio where he excelled in several sports. After graduating from high school Art enlisted in the US Army Reserves in a pilot program created by President Eisenhower that had him serving six months with the 101 Airborne and 308 Combat Engineers and then 7.5 years serving in the Reserves. Art attended Kent State for a year and then transferred to Baldwin Wallace College (now University) where he graduated with a BA in Business in 1962. He met his beloved wife Judie (Coleman) Bergstresser while at BW and they were happily married for 60+Years. Art attended Cleveland Marshall Law School for a year but decided his career interests were in other areas. Art entered the Management training program at Republic Steel for 3 years where he was active with the Cleveland JC's and started the Christmas Shopping tour for orphans and shut-ins which he funded by selling restaurant coupon books. He then worked as a sales representative for Texaco in Akron where their daughter Carrie and son Arthur were born. Art and family moved back to Berea Ohio when he accepted a position at General Electric Major Appliance as Materials Manager where he remained for 14 years. He then joined AGA Inc where he worked for ten years during which time son Alan James (AJ) was born. Art has 3 patents on the Pocketwelder and Rate Ranker products he developed. In addition to working full-time he sold and managed real estate. He owned and maintained various rentals for nearly 40 years. Art enjoyed playing golf, bridge, coaching children's baseball and basketball teams, doing and designing landscaping and many home projects. He especially enjoyed attending all his children and grandchildren's activities. He leaves behind the love of his life, Judith (nee Coleman), his beloved children; Carrie Lynn Higginbotham (Jon), Arthur Robert Bergstresser (Amy), and Alan James (AJ) Bergstresser (Mallory), and his cherished grandchildren; Lauren D'Agostino(Nick), Ryan Arthur Higginbotham, Drew Coleman Higginbotham, Aden Robert Bergstresser, Aaron Richard Bergstresser, Lea Paige Bergstresser, Lane Sara Bergstresser, and great granddaughter, Evelyn Asbury D'Agostino. He was preceded in death by brothers Robert Arthur (Pat), Donald Michael(Gisela-deceased), James Allan, and David George. Memorial Service at the United Methodist Church of Berea will be held on Saturday September 27 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve or a charity of your choice.
