Arthur "Buddy" Watkins

 

MR. ARTHUR “BUDDY” WATKINS was born on September 26,1947, in Newton, Mississippi to the late Lawyer Watkins Sr. and Levie Mae Donald-Watkins. He was the oldest boy out of twelve children. Arthur was educated in Newton, Mississippi Public School System. He later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 18 where he began to work. Arthur brought some of his younger siblings with him when he
moved to Indianapolis to care for them.

Arthur accepted Christ at an early age when he joined St. John Baptist Church in Newton, Mississippi before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana and joining Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Arthur was united in holy matrimony to Catherine Forte-Watkins in September 1968. To this union there were three kids born. Arthur was employed at Coca Cola Bottling Company, Bus Driver for Indianapolis Public Schools before entering his final career at United Technologies/Carrier retiring in 2010.

Arthur had many hobbies including gardening, fishing, hunting, working around his home and kids homes, helping others fix things in there home and working on his and others vehicles. Our dad was a "jack
of all trades". Dad we will miss calling you for advice on how to fix, repair or do a home project.
Arthur was called home on December 27, 2023, at 11:11pm at the age of 76 years old surrounded by family.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Catherine, three sisters and one brother. He leaves to cherish his memories daughter, I. Teresa Watkins; son, Arthur Watkins Jr; daughter, Tamara Watkins-Ward of Orlando, Florida; grandsons, Christopher Watkins and Isaiah Ward; grand daughters, Caitlyn Ward, Chloe Ward and Asha Watkins; great grand daughters, Charlie Watkins and Khalani Marshall; special niece Krishunee (Eric) Watkins-Humphrey; fur baby Leo Watkins; sisters, Johnnie Ruth Evans of Newton, MS/Indianapolis, IN; Betty Jean Watkins of Gulfport, MS; Lela Sanders of Indianapolis, IN; brothers James Earl (Linda) Watkins of Lake, MS; Milton (Dorothy) Watkins and Harry C. Watkins of Newton, MS; Curtis Watkins and a host of family members and friends.
