Arthur (Artie) E. Dougherty died peacefully on February 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Artie was born in Corona (Queens), New York and spent many years as a proud employee of ConEdison, and later Pleasant Grove Elementary School in Inverness, FL. He served for several years as a volunteer fireman with the Freeport Fire Department on Long Island, NY and has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many decades.
Artie was the son of the late Arthur and Edna Dougherty; devoted husband of Jean (nee Slingerland); loving father of Greg (Kathleen) and Heather (Doug); cherished grandfather of Mack, Taylor, Benjamin and Clare; dear brother of Carolyn (deceased), Eileen (deceased), Dennis, and Bernadette (Richard). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Artie's memorial service on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Church of Nazarene in Gilmer, Texas at 2:00 PM. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gladewater, Texas at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Artie's memory to St. Jude’s's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
