Arthur Gibson Sr. Obituary
Arthur James “Jimmy” Gibson Sr., 83 of Sanford passed away Saturday January 17, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday January 22, 2026, at Poplar Springs UMC, 1809 Poplar Springs Church Road, Sanford, NC 27330.
Mr. Gibson was born in Lee County son of the late Jasper Baxley Gibson and Lucille Cox Harrington. Jimmy was a retired truck driver, loved his family and known as a people person.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, Linda Harrington Gibson; sons, Arthur James “Art” Gibson Jr. and Aubrey Gibson (Tracie); three grandchildren: Susan Shepherd, Jared Gibson, and Dylan Gibson; and two great grandchildren: Sawyer and Ellie Shepherd.
Memorial contributions can be made to Cemetery fund at Poplar Springs UMC, 1809 Poplar Springs Road, Sanford, NC 27330-6440.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm and on Thursday in the Fellowship Hall following the burial.
