Arthur Haeberlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Einan's at Hillcrest - Pasco on Jan. 13, 2025.
In the early morning hours of January 12, 2025, our dad and grandpa peacefully passed away with his kids by his side, he was one month shy of his 91st birthday.
Dad lived a good life built on integrity, hard work, stubbornness, and love for his family. Born in Louisville, KY, he moved to Tri-Cities when he was 12. He was a big brother to his sisters Barbara and Doty and brother Sandy. He fiercely loved and protected his mama Evelyn (Chapman) Oneil, and adored his dad Arthur Edward Haeberlin Sr., and step-dad Bill Oneil.
After graduating from Pasco High School, Dad joined the Navy and received an honorable discharge. He met and married our mama Merle (Engles) Haeberlin, whom he affectionately called "Meo," which is where his real adventures began. Together over 40+ years, they built one heck of a life together, which included their four kids Arthur, Daniel, Susan, and Elisabeth. Working as an electrician for Bonniville Power Administration, Dad was assigned to a small community called Vernita (Midway Substation) where the family farmed, raising just about every kind of farm animal possible. He enjoyed life whether he was drinking a beer with friends, bowling with his wife, working on cars, spending time with extended family, camping, traveling back to Louisville, KY, or helping others in need.
Dad loved fast cars, a passion he passed down with enthusiasm and rush to all his kids, Dale Earnhardt, watching car races and tracking stats. Later, after retirement, dad and mom moved to West Richland, WA, where they both would live until their passing, spending time on a cruise, visiting Alaska and Hawaii, and spoiling their grand kids, whom they love beyond measure.
After mom's passing in 2002, dad met an old school friend Patricia, and they would spend the next 20+ years driving each other crazy and making forever memories.
To cherish his memories are his kids Arthur (Dawn) Haeberlin, Daniel (Linda Meeks) Haeberlin, Susan (Kevin) Bergin, and Elisabeth Reynolds. He was a grandpa to a host of grand kids and great-grandkids and would have been a great-grandpa again in May and July and a great-great-grandpa in February 2025. Proceeding him in death were his parents, his beloved wife, sister Doty and brothers Sandy and Reed, granddaughter Brooke Stewart, grandson Mike Stewart, and his companion Patricia.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our dad's caretaker of 9+ years, Analynn Sheffield who became part of the family and lovingly cared for our dad and Patricia up until their passing.
There will be a graveside service with Military Honors at City View Cemetery, Pasco, WA, on January 24, 2025, at 1:00pm.
