Arthur Johnson Obituary
Art was a retired Army Officer, Master Aviator, Instructor Pilot and Aeronautical Safety Officer. After retirement he flew for ComAir Airlines / Delta Connection out of Orlando, FL. Art was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, FL, AMVETS Post 1992 (Past Commander, 2nd Vice and Chaplain), VFW Post 8087 and American Legion Post 242. He enjoyed flying, golfing, fishing, boating and karaoke.
He is survived by his spouse Margaret (Kinsella) Johnson, his three daughters: Yvonne (Bruce) Hargis of Groveland, FL, Christina Gass of Clermont, FL and Diana (John) Latacki of Winter Garden, FL; 7 loving grandchildren: Aaron, Amanda (Webb) and McKenna Hargis; Michael, Erica and Madison Gass; Hunter Latacki and 6 great-grandchildren all of Florida; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Osborne of Wisconsin and Alice Hellmann of Illinois; sister-in-law Audrey Johnson and brother-in-law Arnold (Judy) Kinsella, both of Illinois.
Art is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Viola Johnson, his sisters Patricia Stallings, Jane (Stanley) Feldmann and brother Sgt. Maj. Robert Johnson.
The family will have Celebration of Life events on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at AMVETS Post 1992 in Mt. Dora, FL at 11am and on May 21, 2022 at the American Legion Post 55 in Clermont, FL at 1pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12th St, Clermont, Florida on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11am. Interment of his ashes will follow immediately after mass at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Memorial Donations: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Art's name may be made to Cornerstone SALUTES! for Veterans mailed to Cornerstone Hospice Salute Program @ 2445 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL 32778 or online at cornerstonehospice.org (please request your donation to go to Cornerstone Salutes and provide dedication in the note box), or the Wounded Warrior Project @ woundedwarriorproject.org / 855-448-3997.
