Arthur E. Johnson of Dixon died on March 24, 2025, at the age of 91 in Tucson, AZ. He was born on November 25, 1933, in Princeton, IL, as the son of Everett "Doc" and Marie (Lally) Johnson. He grew up in Ohio, IL, graduated from the University of Notre Dame, became a Veteran of the US Navy and then worked in the Real Estate and Auction business for over 60 years in Bureau and Lee counties. He was a member of the Dixon Gyros Club, that focuses on community involvement and charitable work.
Art married Ann Welch Sept. 7, 1963, of Dixon, IL, who sadly preceded him in death on March 13, 1986. He later married Mary L. Mazrimas of Dixon on July 5, 1990, who brought a large and loving family into his life. In his later stage of life, he also found a partner in Shelia Cushing of Iowa City, Iowa. She shared his interests in traveling and college football games and she took care of him during his final days.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Felix Johnson and his sister Catherine "Kay" Wentworth-Sheilds. He is survived by his sister-in-law Patricia Johnson of Ohio, brother-in-law Peter Wentworth-Sheilds of Ohio, his nephew Nick Johnson of Downers Grove and his nephew William Wentworth-Shields of Chicago.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 25, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025, at 10:00 am, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio, IL. Burial will follow at the St Mary Cemetery in Ohio, IL. A memorial fund has been established to receive donations in Art's name to the Saint Mary Cemetery or a charitable fund of your choice. Condolences can be left at www.thejonesfh.com.
