Arthur J. Luurtsema

Arthur J. Luurtsema, 73, of Blendon Township., died on Friday, April 7, 2023.
Art was born in Zeeland, on February 12, 1950, to Tony and Grace Luurtsema. He went to Zeeland High and became a carpenter. Art was also a skilled mechanic. He became a self-employed contractor and enjoyed working on cars. Art was an Army National Guardsman. He married Betty Berghorst April 18, 1980. Art and Betty had three children together and their eight-year-old daughter Brooke died in 1997. Art enjoyed antiquing, camping, and going for a good car ride with Betty.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty, sons Ross and Nick, brother Les and Myra Luurtsema, in-laws: Lois and Vern Prins, Larry and LaVonne Berghorst, and many extended family members.
The Luurtsema Family is grateful for the wonderful care Art received at Medi-Lodge, especially the kindness and friendship of Becky.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Visiting will be 1:00-1:45 PM prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Blendon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
