Wanda Jean Luurtsema

Wanda Jean Luurtsema, age 76, of Hudsonville, Michigan, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her husband and family.
Born on November 19, 1948, in Zeeland, MI. to Gerald and Geraldine Vruggink, Wanda was the oldest child, followed by her six siblings, Jay, Jon, Karen, Vonnie, Steve and Paul Vruggink. Wanda and Bill, the love of her life, were married on May 31, 1968. After attending nursing school, she felt a greater calling from God - to pour her heart into raising her four children. She embraced motherhood as her divine purpose, devoting her life to nurturing, guiding, and praying for her family every single day.
Wanda's faith was the foundation of everything she did. Her faith in Jesus Christ was demonstrated by volunteering in her home church ministries, hospitality and Christian school programs. She also had a great passion for the unborn which was evident in her volunteer work at Alpha. She never sought recognition, only the quiet joy of serving others in Jesus' name. Her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, radiant smile and passion for life touched all who knew her.
Wanda is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, John William (Bill) Luurtsema; her four children, Dean (Amanda) Luurtsema, Leigh Ann Arnold, David (Amy) Luurtsema, and Aimee Luurtsema. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Eliot Luurtsema, Elyannah Luurtsema, Simkah Luurtsema, and Rebekah Luurtsema, Bailey (Chris) Ver Hage, Taylor Arnold, Lindyn Arnold, Treyton Arnold, Mackenzie Luurtsema, Ainsley Luurtsema, William Luurtsema, Henry Luurtsema, and great grandmother of Brooks and Denver Ver Hage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Geraldine Vruggink, and by her in-laws, Henry and Stella Luurtsema.
Wanda's life was a reflection of Proverbs 31:28 - "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to shine brightly through her family and all those she inspired.
Funeral services for Wanda will be held on Friday, November 14, at 11:00 A.M. at Chapel Pointe. Visitation will be held at VanderLaan Funeral Home on Thursday, November 13, from 5 to 7 P.M. and on Friday, November 14, from 10 to 11 A.M. at Chapel Pointe.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Run Ministries or Focus on the Family.
