Arthur R. Pete

MILFORD and CANTON - Arthur R. Pete, 73, of Milford, passed away in his home on March 18, 2016, after a long struggle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Art was born on April 28, 1942, the son of Raymond and Pauline (Guay) Pete. He had 6 younger siblings.

Art enjoyed a 45-year career at the University of Maine, holding a number of different positions where he applied his passion for innovating using computers and technology. He retired in December 2014 as a lab coordinator for Crosby Laboratory. Art was married on April 20, 1963, (52 years) to Janet M. Pete (Nickerson), with whom he shared a love for the outdoors, constructing various camps, geocaching and spending time with family.

He is survived by 4 sons, Scott A. Pete and Gabriela of Minnesota, Paul E. Pete and wife ,Maria, of Lewiston, Guy E. Pete of South Berwick and Todd E. Pete and wife, Colleen, of Bedford, NH; and grandchildren, William Garrett, Johnathan, Caroline and Michael of Minnesota, Matthew and Jason of Bangor, Makayla and Allissa of Lewiston, and Owen of Bedford, NH.

Art created many wonderful memories that will be remembered and cherished by his family and friends, who will miss him dearly. As desired by the family, services will be private.
