ARTHUR ALANSON PIPER

Arthur Alanson Piper, 87, a long-time resident of Campton, passed away on December 6, 2025. Arthur was the youngest of four children, born in Campton, NH, where he lived with his parents, Charles M. Piper, Sr., and Blanche (Avery) Piper, and his siblings: Blanche (Piper) Boyce, Charles, Jr., and Ethel (Piper) Hobart.

When Art was a young teenager, he moved with his parents to Meriden, CT where there were jobs available after the Draper & Maynard (D&M) Sporting Goods Company on North Main Street in Plymouth closed. There, he graduated from the Horace C. Wilcox Technical School where he trained as a machinist. In Meriden, he also met Katherine Mansolf, whom he married in October of 1961. They moved back to NH together and settled in Holderness for 13 years where they raised their family until moving to Plymouth in 1979.

Art was employed as a tool-and-die machinist at IPC in Bristol, then Freudenberg in Ashland and Northfield, before retiring after 35 years in 1996.

Anyone who knew Art knows that he was not someone who held back his opinions, which were often boisterous and ornery. He was also known to share tales of his colorful life, in splendid detail and emotion, interjected with profanity and colloquialisms, to the delight or dismay of his audience.

During the time he lived in Holderness, he was active as a volunteer fireman, and throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and riding his motorcycle, and he collected knives, Zippo lighters and belt buckles.

Art is survived by his wife, Julie (Leblanc) Piper of Campton; sister Ethel Hobart of Ogden, UT; sister Blanche Boyce of Thornton, NH; daughter Tammy (Piper) Baker and husband Danny of Campton, NH; daughter Michele (Piper) Guertin and husband Marc of Hooksett, NH; and son Michael Piper and wife, Robyn of Moultonborough, NH. He has four grandchildren: Jennifer (Orr) Larrabee and husband Roger of Rochester, NH; Emily (Orr) Amabile of Campton, NH; Evan Beasley of Laconia, NH; and Tristan Beasley of Hilo, HI; as well as four great grandchildren: Owen and Jack Larrabee, and Ashton and Aubree Beasley.

A celebration of life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pemi-Baker Hospice and Home Health, 101 Boulder Point Drive, in Plymouth, NH 03264, or to a charity of your choice.
