Mr. Arthur Lee Reid, Sr., was born on May 18, 1937, to Edna Jean Jones-Reid and William Curtis Reid in Williamson, Georgia. He received his formal education in the Pike County School System.
Mr. Arthur Lee Reid, Sr., accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with Springhill Baptist Church.
Mr. Arthur Lee Reid, Sr., met the love of his life and was united in holy matrimony with Ms. Virginia Ann Merritt on March 22, 1960, in Griffin, Georgia. Their union was blessed with 5 children.
Arthur Lee was employed by the Spalding County School System as a School Bus Driver for many years, until his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and doing things in the Church, he enjoyed life and doing God's work.
On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Mr. Arthur Lee Reid, Sr., name was called, and he answered and was free from all sickness and pain. Rest now in peace and comfort, your journey has ended, battle fought, and victory won. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Jean Jones-Reid and William Curtis Reid; brothers, Eddie Reid, John Wesley Reid, and Nimrayd Reid, and his sister, Sara Reid-Gallimore.
Mr. Arthur Lee Reid, Sr., leaves a lasting legacy, full of loving memories his loving and devoted wife Virginia Reid; their children, Teresa (Willie) Collier, Arthur Reid, Jr., Timothy Reid, and Matissha Brown, and his sister, Emma Jean Freeman; 13 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss his sweet and loving spirit.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Burden's Funeral Home. A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Springhill Baptist Church located at 733 Park Road. The body will lie in state at the Church one hour prior to the service hour. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Pastor Denatras Silas is the Eulogist and Rev. Danny Ball will Officiate.
