Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Sunday, December 1st, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St., Revere for Arthur J. Richards, Jr., who passed away on November 27th at 86 years of age. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m.
Born in Boston, he was the son of Arthur and Mary (Malinowski) Richards. He was raised in Chelsea and attended Everett Technical High School. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served honorably from 1955-1959. Following his discharge, he returned to Chelsea, and married Virginia A. (McHugh). The couple started their family and remained in Chelsea for over 40 years. Arthur was dedicated to his family, and he worked for over 37 years at Boston's Logan Airport as a member of the ground crew for TWA Airlines. His commitment was also to his community, and he faithfully served 3 terms as Chelsea City Councilor in District 2 from 1997-2003. His charitable nature led him to support many local and national charities and organizations throughout his life. Arthur was a longtime member of the Sagamore Club in Chelsea. He and his wife came to live in Revere over 10 years ago. Arthur enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fan of college football. He was also a talented softball player when he was younger.
He is the beloved husband of Virginia A. (McHugh) Richards of Revere. Devoted father of Scott J. Richards of Chelsea, Debbie A. Richards of Boston, and Kerri Frost and her husband Keith of Hampstead, New Hampshire. Cherished grandfather of Hope Frost, Hannah Frost and Luke Frost. Dear brother of Robert Richards, Kathy Richards, Paul Richards. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces and nephews.
