Arthur Sampson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - Federal Way on Mar. 3, 2026.
Arthur (Art) Sampson was born August 3rd, 1940 to Elbert and Caroline in Kalispell, MT. After the war began, the family (including Art's younger sister Barbara) left their farm and moved to Tacoma, WA where his parents both worked as welders. After the war, the family made their way back to Montana while Art was in grade school.

Art graduated from Lone Pine High School in June 1958 and later joined the Air Force. He worked as a heavy ground radar repairman and was honorably discharged in 1966. He then went on to own and run a Chevron station in Seattle, WA. In 1969 he married Jo Anne and they had one child together before divorcing in 1976.

In 1973, Art began to work at Boeing. He later attended Green River Community College part-time to study mathematics and engineering. In the late 1970's, he met the second JoAnn (Jodi) in his life, along with her eight children. They married on December 12, 1980 and had another child together. They and their 10 children lived in Algona, WA until Art retired as an engineer from Boeing in 1995. A couple of years later, Art and Jodi moved to Fruitland, WA to start a farm and own Hunter's Farm and Hardware. In late 2024, Art and Jodi moved back west to live in an assisted living facility in Federal Way, WA where he quickly made many new friends.

Art is predeceased by his parents, daughter Rebecca, children-in-law James and Katina, grandchildren Victoria and Ethan, and great-grandchildren Olivia and Avery. He will be missed by his many surviving friends and family. His funeral service will be held Saturday March 7th at 12:00pm at the Star Lake ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auburn, WA.
