Arthur Schneider Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caring Cremations - Chicago on Dec. 3, 2025.
Arthur John Schneider, 91, passed away on November 27, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, with his family by his side.
He was born to Walter Schneider and Estelle Davey on July 15, 1934, in Queens, New York.
Arthur put his PhD from MIT in electrical engineering to work first as a professor at the University of Wisconsin, and then as the Vice President of Sperry Corporation (Unisys). After retiring as an engineer, he worked for H&R Block and TD Bank. He retired in 2008 living in North Wales, Pennsylvania, before moving in 2018 to the sunnier and warmer climate in Estero, Florida.
He was a voracious reader, who loved attending concerts, theater events, going out to restaurants, museums, traveling the world, and watching classic movies with his beloved wife, Carol, of 60 years. They were known in their neighborhood for taking daily evening walks. Arthur was also a remarkable piano player. Arthur will also be remembered for the whimsical poetry he'd write for everyone and his short stories that he loved to read aloud to his grandchildren. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son Jay; and daughter Lynn (Greg). He was preceded in death by his son Paul and his wife Carol. He has four grandchildren: Jack and Sydney (Paul) and Soren and Blake (Lynn).
A private family memorial was held, and he will be buried with his wife in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
