Arthur Semle Obituary

Arthur B. Semle
1933 - 2025
Wilbraham
Arthur B. Semle, 92, former longtime resident of Raymond Drive, Wilbraham, MA, died at Reeds Landing retirement community on October 11, 2025. Son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Mueller) Semle, Arthur was born and raised in New York City. Following his graduation from John Adams High School, Arthur earned his bachelors and masters degrees at Springfield College in Springfield, MA. It was also at Springfield College where Arthur met the love of his life, Norma. Following their graduation, Arthur and Norma married and settled in Wilbraham, MA, where they resided for over 60 years.
A proud Army Veteran, Arthur worked for Westvaco, formerly US Envelope, retiring as Marketing Manager after 35 years of distinguished service. An active participant in his community, Arthur was a charter member of the former Christ the King Lutheran Church in Wilbraham where he served on the church council. Arthur was also a member of the Springfield College Alumni Council and was a 14-year volunteer on the original Wilbraham Council on Aging, serving many years as chairman.
During college, Arthur swam for famed Springfield College coach Charles Silvia on his 1954 and 1955 championship teams. In his leisure time, Arthur maintained a lifelong passion for swimming and was an avid fan of UMass basketball, but his greatest joy was spending time with his precious family, including many happy summers at the cottage in Canada.
Arthur's neighbors and friends will remember his bright smile, kind words and thoughtful deeds. Arthur was a true family patriarch who was adored by his family.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Schwalb and his daughter in law Debbie Semle.
To cherish his memory, Arthur leaves his beloved wife of 68 years Norma (Bray) Semle and their four devoted children; Scott Semle and his wife Holly of Hollis, ME, Lisa Semle of Wilbraham, MA, Brian Semle and his wife Susan of Sandwich, MA and Brad Semle and his wife Jennifer of Mill Hall, PA, eight grandsons, one granddaughter and seven great grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather for Arthur's Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 21st at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Epiphany Church, 758 Main St. in Wilbraham. A calling hour will be held from 10-11AM at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
