Arthur Sharp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peck Funeral Home - Hartselle on Mar. 9, 2026.
Arthur David Sharp (Dave), 71, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 7, 2026.

He was born on April 5, 1954, in Hartselle, AL to Arthur Chapman (AC) Sharp and Ruth Bradley Sharp. He graduated from Morgan County High School in 1972. While still in high school, he joined the Navy. He left for basic training in July of 1972. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA, where he was a Hospital Corpsman Second Class aboard the USS Inchon. After his Navy service, he returned to Hartselle. He retired from the maintenance department at Rehau in Cullman, AL.

Dave loved being outside. Whether he was gardening, fishing, watching his hummingbird feeders or just sitting on the front porch leaving all technology behind. He loved animals, especially dogs. He would rescue kittens and bunnies from the streets and feed stray dogs near his home. He felt that the true measure of one's character is how they treated animals, and by that measure, he was a very good man.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, AC Sharp, his mother, Ruth Sharp, and his brothers, Larry Sharp and Douglas Sharp.

Dave is survived by his daughters, Leslie McArdle (Jody), Leigh Verble (Keith), four grandchildren, Chance, Sydney, Jackson, and Anna, two great-grandbabies, Liam and Lily, and his brother, Brad Sharp (Jean).

Graveside services will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 1:00 at Hartselle City Cemetery, with Brad Sharp honoring him.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to your favorite animal rescue or veteran funded charities.
