   Arthur Martin “Art” Slaughter, 67, of Edenton, NC, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, NC. 

   Arthur was the son of the late Clarence Bratcher Slaughter and Virginia Dare Sumerell and was born March 8, 1957 in New Bern, NC. Arthur is survived by his wife, Deborah Lilley “Debbie” Slaughter; brother, Michael Thomas Slaughter; sister-in-law, Mary Louis Slaughter; brother-in-law, James Carter; nephew, Stephen Michael Slaughter; niece, Andrea Marie Lester; and grandnephew, Dakota William Willis. 

   In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Louise Carter. Arthur had a long work career that started in high school with working at the Charburger in New Bern, NC. He worked for Dr Pepper in New Bern, NC, Pepsi in Raleigh, NC, and Coca-Cola in Goldsboro, NC. Arthur worked with a small electronics repair and installation company for a number of years before moving to Elizabeth City, NC. There he worked for Hoffer Flow Controls, checking and then repairing outgoing equipment, as his last job. 

   Arthur was a NC Licensed Paramedic and enjoyed volunteering with the EMT services in Craven County, NC; the Craven County Sheriff Department; and with the Fairgrounds Volunteer Fire Department in Raleigh, NC. He was also a member of Jaycees in New Bern, NC and worked with the Craven County Fair for a number of years. 

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Dupuy and the Rev. Larry Lilley officiating.
