Arthur Squicciarini, age 91, of Cornelius North Carolina formerly of Brooklyn New York, died peacefully at home with his wife Birgit and daughter Lisa on April 19, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of Michael and Grace Squicciarini and was one of eight brothers and sisters. Surviving him are his wife Birgit Squicciarini, and their blended family of six children. Lisa, Michael, Deb, David, Paul, and Lori. And his two granddaughters Emilia and Ellie.
Art was proud of his Italian heritage. His mother and father both emigrated to the United States from Bari Italy. He grew up in a household as one of eight children, with him being the youngest boy. The Squicciarini family was a close knit with Art always telling stories of his childhood and how he from the tender age of ten and his brothers worked with their father climbing flights of stairs delivering coal, oil, and ice to client homes. He never received payment, but he was allowed to keep his tips. He would say "I was the richest kid on the block". This was from saving all his tips. He said "I would never dream of taking money from my mother and father. We kids would always give or send part of our paycheck money to mom and dad to make sure that they were alright". He said, "If I could go back in time, I would go back to Brooklyn". Art loved playing in Prospect Park, telling stories about the zoo, and the lake, and the walking trails." "I had a great childhood."
Art had an illustrious career with many companies. One such company Harley-Davidson was lucky to have him. The company was not doing well; a round table discussion was formed whereby they talked about getting rid of the loud sound that the motorcycles made. Art said, "No we are not getting rid of that sound, that's the only thing we have" and to this day his picture along with other company representatives hangs in the Harley Hall of Fame building. Later in his career Art joined Talley Industries as a CEO, this company was a designer and manufacturer of aerospace, industrial and commercial products.
Art retired in 1999 after working with Diametrics a company of Talley industries located in Davidson, North Carolina.
Art lived his final thirty-four years of life in Cornelius, North Carolina, where he enjoyed being a member of the Peninsula Club and traveling to his condominium in Marco Island, Florida during the winter months. He loved golfing, exercising, and dining at the Peninsula Club. He even procured two hole in ones earning his place on a plaque at the club commemorating his accomplishment. In Marco Island his passion was fishing, he loved catching Sheepshead and walking on the beach with his wife and eating at the many wonderful restaurants on the island.
Next to his wife of forty-four years, Art's next love was traveling. Art was an avid traveler touring multiple destinations around the world through his work and free time. Of course, his favorite place was Italy. He was so happy to have visited his parent's hometown of Bari Italy. Art even found the Squicciarini name on a shop called "The Squicciarini Travel Agency." His other favorite place was going to Denmark the birthplace of his wife Birgit where they would spend many vacations touring the country and spending time with her relatives there.
His daily passion was exercising and walking his dog, Dusty. He could not go a day without some form of exercising. He was a champion at it and could put most younger adults to the test and come out a winner. In his last year of life, he was still doing one hundred push-ups, he was so proud of that. This regime surely led to his health and enjoyment of living a long life to the age of 91.
A small memorial service will be held at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina on Sunday May 4, 2025, 2:00 PM with a visitation to follow.
Art's final resting place will be at Beaverdale Memorial Cemetery in Hamden, Connecticut. He will be laid to rest by his wife's parents and joined in time by his wife, Birgit and daughter, Lisa.

I´m so glad to have been able to have lunch with Art and Birgit last fall. He was still the dynamic and commanding figure I worked with so many years ago. I know he was the center of your world and will be sorely missed. Blessings to all.

Art was a genuine man. He had his opinions but was open to listening! We worked together right at 23 years. I worked with his immediate family (Birgit and Lisa) over that 23 years as well. Art trusted hardly anyone, but he enjoyed the friendships he made over the time that I worked with him! Go rest high on that mountain, Art!
