Arthur Stubbs, a passionate football fan, beloved coach, and a man with an infectious sense of humor, left an indelible mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. With boundless energy and a booming laugh, he brought joy to the sidelines and stands. His enthusiasm for the game was matched only by the size of his heart, always cheering the loudest for his team and never hesitating to mentor or lend a helping hand. Whether crafting a clever play or cracking a joke to lighten the mood, Arthur made every moment memorable. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty, forever cherished by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched.
Arthur Harold Mintz Stubbs (Art) was born on July 31, 1971 to the union of Emma and Arthur Stubbs in Millville, NJ. He departed this life on January 25, 2025 at Capital Health Fuld Campus. Art attended Haleyville Elementary School, Port Norris Middle School, Millville High School and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trenton State College (College of New Jersey).
He began his teaching career at Grice Middle School and finished his career at West Windsor-Plainsboro North where he served for 23 years. His head football coaching career was launched at Hamilton West High School (HHW) in 1998 where he led the freshman team to an undefeated 9-0 season. He and his fellow HHW varsity coaches were recognized by the Trenton Times as the Coaching Staff of the Decade having won 5 conference and Hamilton Township championships, as well as appeared in 5 state playoff tournaments.
Art became WWPN head coach in 2002 and coached the Knights through six seasons and was the first North coach to bring the team to qualify for the NJSIAA state tournaments, which the team did with 6-4 record in 2004. He went on to receive the Coach of the Year Award for leading North in what would be known as one of the greatest upsets in the history of the Colonial Valley Conference, beating rival South, 21-9.
In addition to coaching track at Community Middle School he trained and mentored countless athletes in the WWP weight-room. Art was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan through and through. From the star-emblazoned hat on his head to the blue-and-silver gear filling his closet, his loyalty to America's Team was unmatched. Sundays were sacred - game day rituals, passionate cheers and an unwavering belief that this year the Cowboys would reclaim their glory. He would recite stats, debate plays, and tell you exactly why the refs got it wrong. Whether in the stands, in front of the TV, or coaching his own team with that same Cowboy spirit, his love for the game ran deep. His passion was contagious, his loyalty unshakable, and his heart as big as Texas itself.
Having professed his faith in Christ, he recently became a member of Fishers of Men Church of East Windsor, NJ.
