Arthur "Ott" Swilling

Arthur Lee "Ott" Swilling, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his home.
Born May 6, 1941, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Frank Edgar Swilling and Nellie Ruth Roland Swilling. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Ottie Swilling and Timothy Swilling; sisters, Frances Heflin, Dorothy Holcombe, Mary Marcum – his twin, and Patricia Bowman.
A US Air Force veteran, he loved motorcycles, fast cars, going to drag races and beautiful women. Ott had a deep love for his family, especially his son, Ottie and daughter, Candice and his grandkids. He had a big heart and enjoyed helping people. He devoted his life to getting his son out of prison and succeeded. Watching game shows was a favorite pastime, especially Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and The Price Is Right.
He is survived by daughters, Candice Swilling Nix and Nellie Luv Swilling, both of Anderson; a brother Larry Swilling of Starr; a sister, Elaine McBride of Anderson; granddaughters, Cassidy Merritt (Kyle) of Anderson and Taylor Fortune of Piedmont; grandsons, Aiden Lee Swilling and Elijah Kash Swilling, both of Anderson; great-grandchildren, Waylon Merritt, Magnolia Merritt, Waco Merritt, and Penny Saylors.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 5 pm – 7 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 2 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Elaine McBride, 2831 Sunset Forest Road, Anderson, SC.
