Arthur Dale Van Doran, Jr., 77 of Jacksonville, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 after an extended illness. The son of Arthur, Sr. and Doris (Hicks), “Dugan” was born in Macclenny on September 23, 1948. He worked for many years in construction and specialized in telecommunications.
He loved to spend his free time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and loved to run dogs in the hunting woods. Dugan was also a skilled musician who built his own instruments. He loved to play bluegrass music with family and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Geraldine Van Doran.
He is survived by his children, Arthur Dale (Jennifer) Van Doran, III of Middleburg and Ona Meliah (Michael) Long of Macclenny; step children, Steven (Holly) Joiner of Jacksonville and Justin Joiner of California; his longtime partner of thirty five years, Ms. Linda Joiner of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Bailey, Shelby, Kaylee, Linda and Leila; and a brother, Richard Michael (Nanette) Van Doran of Jacksonville. Dugan was also survived by cousins and other extended family members who loved him dearly.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Manntown Cemetery with Rev. David Thomas officiating.
