Arthur Vigneron Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Jun. 30, 2022.
Art Vigneron was born in San Francisco, CA to Julian James Lesner and Lucille Goodman on August 7, 1943. Lucille and Art moved to College Place, WA soon after that and lived with grandparents. They then moved to Walla Walla, WA where John Vigneron adopted Art and brother George was born.
He loved to play softball while growing up but in the summer of his Junior year in High School had a run in with the ball that bent his rib cage. For the rest of his life, he had many surgeries on his back and neck. When doing a fusion in the early days, his main artery was clipped and nearly died on the operating table.
Art graduated Walla Walla High School May 28, 1962 and worked at Harris Pine Mills in Pendleton, OR until 1966. His parents had moved to Oklahoma City, OK and Art joined them not planning to stay. He was hired by Tinker Air Force base as an electronic mechanic and remained on that job for 20 years. In 1986, he became an avionics technician and worked on the KC135 and then used his avionics skills to work on the computers of the AWACS E-3. He did this until his retirement in 2001. He loved airplanes and could tell you the specifics of one flying overhead. After retirement, he worked for the Adventist Book Center in charge of shipping for 5 years. He loved this work having the association of fellow church members on the phone or in person. He never knew a stranger and his social life took on blossoms.
On March 19, 1995, Art married Carlene Hohmann Vibbard and they lived in Jones, OK until 2020 when moving to Oklahoma City due to his declining health. In 2008, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, had radiation, and in 2009 had the seeding done. In 2013, he had a pacemaker implanted.
August of 1998, we went to Colorado and enjoyed the white-water rafting. He enjoyed that so much we made another trip later. In 2004, when moving Justin to Florida, we encountered that huge hurricane which caused many detours and not the excitement of river rafting. When the Pathfinders went on a Union Camporee, he got the title water boy as he carried all the water bottles during the parade. He loved doing service for others. When asked how he was the answer was always terrific and then at times some days are just better than others. On one occasion when asked to move my car which had the seats all pulled forward, he said it felt like I was being born again .
Art loved to read the Bible, airplane magazines, watch car races and do crossword puzzles. He taught classes at church and led many talks. He assisted teaching at the Central SDA school. In the building of the Yukon SDA church, he played a major role in the planning. He enlarged the pulpit platform at Central SDA church as he loved working with his hands.
Art was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Lucille; and brother, George. He is survived by wife, Carlene Vigneron; son, James and wife Jeannie of Harrah; grandchildren, Rachel and Rebecca; daughter, Shawn Renee; and stepson, Justin and wife Laura of Sarasota, FL. He has aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends that dearly loved him. He will be missed by many.
Services will be Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Central Seventh Day Adventist Church.
