Rocky Mount, NCMr. Artis Clyde "Artis C" Moore, 73, of
Rocky Mount, North Carolina transitioned on September 11, 2024. He was the son of the late Jessie J. Moore and the late Margaret E. Moore.
Artis Clyde Moore (also affectionately known as Artis C, Clyde, C Mo), was born May 13, 1951, to the late Margaret Edwards Moore and Jesse James Moore, in Whitakers, North Carolina. He was educated in the Nash County Public School system, having attended Maude B. Hubbard Elementary School, Swift Creek High School and graduated from Northern Nash High School with the class of 1970. "Mr. Moore", as he would often identify himself, moved to the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area immediately after graduation, where he spent/ lived over 40 years, working as a Metro City Bus Driver, from 1975 to 1999, retiring after over 24 years of employment.
Artis C, as his family called him, was a fun loving, joyful spirited individual. There was none like him. He lived life. He was funny, talked a lot/all the time, never met a stranger, had friends in every city he visited for any length of time. He had the "gift of gab" and was always able to lift the spirits of the downtrodden and would always put a smile on one's face. He spoke his mind and had very little patience for what he considered "foolishness". He had endearing nicknames for almost everybody, and usually the nicknames were befitting the recipients' personalities/actions. He enjoyed listening to jazz music and had a wide collection of jazz musicians' music.
Clyde gave his life to Christ during his lifetime and came to rely and depend on Christ as his comforter, healer and Savior. In his last breath, he was calling on Jesus. He departed this life and entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
He leaves to cherish his memories five children: Elizabeth Rashaun Williams of Washington, D. C.; Eric Moore of Temple, Hills Maryland; Dewayne Walker of Fairfax County, Virginia; Carmen Ashlei Moore of Farmville, Virginia and Christina Robinson; two brothers: Malachi Moore of Silver Springs, Maryland and John Robert "Bob" Moore of
Rocky Mount, North Carolina; two sisters: Shirley Moore Jones of North Chesterfield, Virginia, and Margaretha Moore Morris of Macon, Georgia; a special friend, Annie "Lasko" Stanback of
Rocky Mount, North Carolina; five grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
