Arvin Duaine Egger entered the presence of his Lord Wednesday, August 27, 2025. He was born November 22, 1937, in Cherry Hill, being almost 88 years old. A model of steadfastness, he was "the same" throughout his life & in all circumstances, whether he'd just sold a home or had a very expensive bulldozer breakdown.

He eloped with his forever love, Sue (Deramus) Egger November 12, 1959, & would have celebrated 66 years of a beautiful marriage in two months. He was not a physically large man, nor did he have a bold personality, but he had a big impact in his community. He had a quiet confidence, was a loyal friend, & was respected by all who knew him, having proven himself trustworthy over a lifetime. He was a backbone member of Cherry Hill Gospel Church for his entire adult life, a strong voice in the choir's bass section, led songs for years, & showed up for every workday.

He was driving a truck before he was old enough for a license, then quit school at 14 to begin working at a sawmill in a little community in California. He was known as a hard worker & provider for the next 60 years, whether working in the log woods, driving trucks, operating dozers, & building homes all over Mena. He had a cattle farm & did his own hay until his early 80's.

He enjoyed driving & working on cars & other equipment all his life, recalling his first adventure behind the wheel. When at about 3, he was playing in his dad's car & knocked it out of gear. It sat on a hill so it could get started, and he had a little excitement with his mom chasing after him before a tree at the bottom ended that fun.Not much later, he took his dad's old jeep for a spin in the snow & ended up in the ditch. When Mena opened a circle dirt track for racing stock cars, he drove cars that he & a couple of good friends enjoyed building.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald & Hazel (Cline) Egger, paternal grandparents Amos & Grace (Simpson) Egger, maternal grandparents Scott & Bessie Cline, brother Ronald Egger, Jr., premature granddaughter, Kearsten Egger, premature twin great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Marlen Ronten, sister-in-law Joyce Deramus Alexander and husband, Paul Alexander.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, daughter, Duana Hawkins, son Scott Egger, grandson Brandon Harris (Becky), granddaughter Hope Egger, great-grandson Mark Harris, sisters Virginia Ronten of California, Ann Carter (Junior), & Ronell Oglesby (Larry), along with numerous nieces, nephews, & friends.

Services for Mr. Arvin Duaine Egger will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Cherry Hill Gospel Church in Cherry Hill, Arkansas. Pastor John Stubbs will be officiating under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Cherry Hill, Arkansas.
