Louis Garry "L.G." Ellison, 95, of Mena passed away August 25, 2025, at the Green House Cottages of Homewood. L.G. was born July 28, 1930, in Oden, Arkansas to the late John Waylon and the late Ethel Audine (Helton) Ellison.

L.G. was 3 years old when his parents moved to Mena. He attended Southside, Central and Mena High School graduating in 1949. He joined the National Guard in the 11th grade so he could get his car license cheaper. During the summer, he worked for H.C. Walker and helped to build the Stillwell Elementary School.

L.G. and Joy were married December 31, 1950 and 2 days later he was sent to Fort Hood, Texas for basic training. L.G. was a member of the Mena National Guard Service Battery 937th Field Artillery Battalion that served in the Korean War. L.G. worked at many different businesses in Mena including the Box Factory, Dewey Masters Motors, U.S. Motors, Emerson Ford and Ralph's Buick before starting his own car sales and antique clock shop. L.G. loved to raise a garden and work on antique clocks. He was a deacon and longtime member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Mena. L.G. served 9 years on the Acorn School Board.

L.G. is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Joy Ellison and son Michael Ellison.

L.G. is survived by sons; Larry Ellison of Mena; Rick and Karen Ellison of Acorn; Granddaughters, Lindsey and Micheal Pitts of Greenwood, Arkansas, Kimberly and Jason Matejek of Greenwood, Arkansas; Grandson, Cody Ellison of Orlando, Florida; 8 Great-grandchildren;

sister, Jane Barron of Johnson, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to all the special ladies in Cottage 6 for all their kind and professional help. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena with Brother Dana Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
