Arvin Lee Jacobsma

Arvin Lee Jacobsma, 90, of Waukee, IA, formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 4, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  The visitation with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home.  Burial is at the Hospers Cemetery in Hospers, IA.

Arvin was born July 10, 1933, in Hospers, IA, the son of Horton and Anne (Vander Lee) Jacobsma.  He grew up in Hospers and graduated from Hospers High School.  Arvin was a truck driver for many years.  He married Mary Determaan and the couple were married for 32 years before Mary’s passing.  Arvin married Pat Murray on March 25, 2010.  He enjoyed tinkering with things around the house, working in his yard, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, while cheering on his favorite team, the Cubbies.

Survivors include his wife Pat of Waukee, IA; his children:  Laurie Arnold of Waukee, IA, Romain Jr. of Waukee, IA, Cindy (Armin) Quedzuweit of Clinton, IA, Rick Hicks of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Shannon Witherspoon of Omaha, NE, and Christina Hicks of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters:  Freda Dickey of Nebraska City, NE, Mildred Hastings of San Paseo, AZ, and “Bub” (John) Pratt of San Paseo, AZ.

Arvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, two brothers:  Searle and John, and a sons-in-law: Frank Arnold and Steve Jorgensen.
