Asa Larry Driver

Asa Larry Driver, born June 25, 1956, in Cross City, Florida, passed away on January 18, 2026. He was 69 years old.

Asa was born to the late Asa Pasco Driver and Annie Marcill Walker, who preceded him in death. He was a proud Florida native and a 1978 graduate of Newberry High School, where he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America, an early reflection of his lifelong connection to farming and animals.

A published writer, Asa had a thoughtful and creative spirit. He worked extensively with horses and farming, dedicating much of his life to hard work, care of the land, and respect for animals. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army for two years. Later in life, Asa found meaningful purpose in training service animals, combining his patience, compassion, and deep understanding of animals to help others.

Asa is survived by his loving sister, Virginia Franklin, and brother, Johnny Driver; two nephews, one niece, two great-nieces, and two great-nephews, all of whom will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Asa was preceded in death by twins lost before birth; his sister, Vivienne Celletti; nephew, John Paul Gutekunst; and niece, Ann Marie Roberts.

Asa Larry Driver will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to animals and agriculture, service to his country, and the thoughtful words he shared through his writing. His legacy lives on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
