Ashley Rene Fernandez

Ashley Rene Fernandez, age 42, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Born in Cumberland County, NC, on May 28, 1983, to John Franklin Fernandez and Pamela Lynn Miller Fernandez, she was a graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Ashley loved to cook and was fantastic at it. She also enjoyed working on computers, playing video games, and doing crafts.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Clyde and Joan Miller; her godparents, Gene "Bubba" and Lynnette "Jet" Boyce; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Fernandez, and her maternal grandmother, Alice Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Freedom Baptist Church, 2290 Peartree Road, Elizabeth City, NC 27909, with Dr. Matt Thomas officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery.
