Ashley Owens Obituary
Ashley Elizabeth Owens, 41 of Indian Trail, NC passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025. She was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on July 10, 1984. She is the daughter of Samuel Patterson and Angela Butler Patterson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in Ritch Family Cemetery.
Ashley was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Lloyd and Mathie Patterson, maternal grandfather Lawrence “Pop” Butler, and paternal great aunt Myrtle Lee Davis and along with her parents is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Christopher Aaron Owens, son, Cooper David Owens and daughter, Abigail Lee Owens, sister, Amy Haivala (Samuel), brothers Kristopher Patterson (Danielle), and Stephen Patterson (Amber), maternal grandmother, Pamela “Little” Butler, her nephews and nieces, Cameron Simpson, Carter Simpson, Noah Haivala, Michael Haivala, Hunter Patterson, Logan Patterson, Andrew Patterson, Hannah Patterson, and Noah Patterson.
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Education in elementary education from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a focus on US history. Other than her family, Ashley’s two greatest loves were swimming and reading. She could often be found either by the pool or on the beach with a book in her hand. Ashley worked at the Charlotte Swim Academy for 25 years, spending the last 15 years as General Manager, helping thousands of children learn to swim and empowering so many teachers to impart this life saving skill. In Ashley’s free time, if she wasn’t reading, she was cheering on her children at their ball games, playing cards or board games with her family, or spending time with her husband, Chris, talking about books, tv shows, and their amazing life together. The foundation for all of her wonderful life was her unwavering and steadfast faith in God and her savior, Jesus Christ, and it was His love and grace that Ashley allowed to shine through her onto all those around her.
