Mildred Owens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. - Magnolia on Feb. 27, 2026.
Mildred Owens, lovingly known to all as "Mickey," age 94, of Magnolia, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026.

She was born October 6, 1931, in Bismarck, Arkansas, and grew up in the Hot Springs area, later graduating from Harmony Grove High School. Mickey first worked as an operator for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and as a receptionist and switchboard operator for Mcalester Fuel Company in Magnolia. She retired in 1989 after 20 years of working as a teller for Noblesville Bank in Indiana.

She loved her Lord and Savior, often telling her loved ones, "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me." Mickey was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and later Central Baptist Church, where she was active in ladies' ministries and known for her love of bowling, travel, cards, and domino games in fellowship with dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert C. "Bert" Owens; son, Kenneth Kelly Bourdier, Jr; parents, Dave and Tiny Yates; three brothers, Harrison, Calvin and Clois Yates, and three sisters, Katherine Dixon, Sally Griffith, and Mary Phillips.

She is survived by stepdaughter, Pat Simmons (Clint) of Oak Ridge, TN; two step-grandchildren, Kimberly Easterday and Christopher Simmons (Nicole); three step-grandchildren, Audrey Easterday, Connor Simmons, and Hannah Simmons. and one great-niece and two great-nephews whom she loved as her grandchildren: Melody Hines Tolbert (Dewayne) of El Dorado, AR; Adam Hines (Elisa) of Haughton, LA; Caleb Hines (Bonnie), of Bossier, LA; and six great-great nieces and nephews: Gregory, Naomi, Christian, and Autumn Tolbert; and Audrey and Wade Hines.

The family is profoundly grateful to the staff of Dudneywood Assisted Living Center for their loving care and the sense of community and belonging they provided Mickey to the end. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to special caregivers Victoria Lewis, Bettina Carroll, and the staff of Enhabit Hospice for their expertise, comfort, and assistance.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Joe Owens and Dr. Mike Seabaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Hines, Adam Hines, Caleb Hines, Dewayne Tolbert, and Richard Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Neinast, Leonard Griffith, Clint Simmons, and Christopher Simmons.
