Ashley Huckaby Phelps, 37, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, following a fall in her home that was complicated by a two year battle of Throat Cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) Saturday, July 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jelly Valimont officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday for visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home, where Ashley has requested that we wear bright colors in honor of her.
Ashley was born April 27, 1986 in Columbus, GA. She was the daughter of Cleven L. Huckaby and Robin Griggs Huckaby. She met the love of her life, Mark Phelps, in November of 2011. They got married on March 21, 2015 on her family's farm. Together, they proudly built a home filled with joy and happiness with their four schnauzer puppies. Ashley was a talented writer, seamstress and artist. Her creativity knew no limits and she had a way with words that was absolutely captivating. When Ashley wasn't busy perfecting her craft, she enjoyed cuddling up with a cup of coffee and a good book, watching the newest Marvel or Rom-Com movie or her favorite T.V. series. Saturdays in the Fall you could guarantee that Ashley would be watching football and wearing her red and black while yelling, "GO DAWGS!" Ashley had the best sense of humor. She loved to laugh and to make others smile and feel loved. Her joy was contagious. Ashley always had a passion for traveling and seeing the world; she has traveled to many different countries and taken countless road trips across the U.S. She never said "no" to chances of adventures and always had a suitcase packed and ready to go at a moment's notice. Nothing meant more to her than spending time with her family. She was a proud wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Ashley was the ultimate example of how to lead a life with love. The legacy of her strength, love, and laughter she effortlessly gave to every person she met was truly her greatest accomplishment. She never met a stranger and always made others feel as though she had known them for years. She had a way of making others feel seen. Her bright smile, colorful spirit and bold personality will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Ashley is preceded in death by a sister, April Michelle Lee.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Phelps; parents Cleven and Robin Huckaby; sister, Savannah Sikes and husband Steven and their kids Scarlett and Tripp; brother, Clayton Huckaby and wife Amber and their son Walker; and nephew Cameron Lee; and several other family members and friends.
