Athlyne L. Bednar nee Hayes, age 75, of Bartlett, IL, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, October 25th, 2025. Beloved wife of Mark for 49 years, loving mother of Michael, David, and Carolyne (Joseph) Crawford. Athlyne loved each of her 6 grandchildren, Jonathon, Lucy, Noah, Silas, Ashlyn and Colton. Preceded in death by her parents John and Charlotte, as well as sibling Kathy (Al) Pebbles. Survived by sisters Jackie (Greg) Butler and Patricia (Larry) Vernald and extended family.
Her employment with Northwest Physicians for Womens Healthcare at St. Alexius Hospital, then Northwestern Medicine both garnered her with many coworker friendships. She retired from Northwestern Medicine in 2017.
She enjoyed sewing and crafting for herself and immediate family, creating many enjoyable gifts.
Athlyne brought the family together for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was very enthusiastic to decorate for Halloween and especially Christmas. It filled her heart with happiness to decorate for the holidays.
Her neighborhood involvement with playing Bunco over 30 years' time produced many friendships.
Caring for the grandchildren Ashlyn and Colton brought her great joy and a sense of giving back to the circle of life.
We will miss her dearly.
