She cherished her time with family and friends, whether it was sitting around the living room laughing at the antics of her great grandchildren Holden and Liv Haymes or spending time with her grandchildren Brittany Haymes, Christopher McKenzie, and Amber McKenzie whom she was extremely proud of. She loved her daughters Donna Case and Angela White with all her heart. She is reunited with her loving husband Richard Case, to whom she was very happily married for sixty-four wonderful years. She was always up for a competitive game of Dominos with friends and family, and loved spending time talking with customers at the counter of the cake shop.
Audrey was born to Rillie and K.T. Gentry in Chula, Ga on May 9, 1934. She and her 3 brothers Kermit, Doug, and Colin Gentry helped on the family farm growing up before she moved to Cocoa Beach, FL. She worked as a secretary at Patrick AFB where she met the love of her life Richard Case, and then married on her 25th birthday. Richard was in the Air Force, so they relocated often, which Audrey loved. She met some amazing people and visited many interesting places throughout the US. Audrey worked her way up the ladder by performing her duties with exemplary service, receiving many accommodations and merit awards. Richard and Audrey’s last post was in Northern Virginia where they both proudly worked at the Pentagon. She had the privilege of being the Executive Secretary to the Secretary of Defenses, James Schlesinger and Donald Rumsfeld. She was also honored to meet 5-star General Omar Bradley, The Thunderbirds and The Blue Angels. Richard and Audrey retired and moved back to Chula, GA in 1989 to be near family. Audrey started baking cakes which quickly outgrew the home and opened Cakes by Audrey in downtown Tifton.
Anyone who knew Audrey knew she was one of the most selfless, caring, and generous people they have ever met. She loved with all her heart and forgave unconditionally. She will be missed by many but will live on forever in our hearts.
