Audrey Geiger

Audrey N. Geiger died peacefully in Ridgewood, NJ on October 26 at 97. She's greatly missed by her three daughters: Jill, Karen and Lauren, her four grandsons: Brian Angell (and wife Melissa), Adam Rumsch (and wife Rachel), Michael Rumsch (and wife Virginie), Rob Angell (and wife Melissa) and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her nephew Albert Spooner and her niece Lois Steindl who was like another daughter to her along with her great nieces and their families.
Audrey was born in New York. Having skipped two grades in school, she graduated high school at the age of 16 and was working at Carl Fisher Music Company where she met and married Robert Geiger. They then moved to Ridgewood where they raised their three daughters.
Audrey made and kept countless friends over her lifetime. She had a love of words and in addition to being a voracious reader was accomplished at word processing, editing, crossword puzzles (which she did in pen) and shorthand. Her exceptional typing speed served her well when she transitioned from typewriter to computer back in the days of DOS. In 1989 she retired as Vice President of Harte-Hanks Marketing Research after starting there as Assistant to the President. While there she formed a close relationship with the owner of what was Pronto Printing – a strong connection that continued for decades and meant the world to her.
Audrey was an avid knitter and her daughters along with all of the children in her life have been kept warm by sweaters, hats and mittens she knit over decades. She displayed her intelligence, humor and high energy level throughout her long life and loved the music of Barry White, Tom Jones, the Village People, classical music, "" " and the acting of Peter O'Toole. Her patience and humor were loved and appreciated at the Northwest Bergen Senior Center where Audrey tutored seniors learning how to use the computer and managed the library.
