Audrey Carole Griggs

Audrey Carole Griggs, 75, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 14, 1950, to the late Raymond Wilton and Marjorie Wanda Burlew.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Griggs; her daughter, Shari (Vinnie) Gonzalez; her brothers, Terry (Molly) Burlew, Brad (Brenda) Burlew, and Barry (Janet) Burlew; her half-sister Karla Helton, half-brother Bryan Burlew and her cherished grandson, Dalton Gonzalez. In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Sutton.
On July 31, 1971, she married Warren Griggs, her devoted husband of 54 years. The two met at a horse stable run by Warren and his father. Audrey fell in love first with his horse-so much so that when the stable closed, she tracked the horse down to the family farm where she also found her future husband. Her lifelong love for horses continued, along with her affection for all creatures-except clearly praying mantises.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses she drew great comfort from the hope of the resurrection and Jesus' words that "the meek shall inherit the earth."
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. Audrey's quiet thoughtfulness and gentle spirit touched many lives, often in ways unseen. She was known for her warm smile that "could light up a room," her genuine concern for others, and her grateful, uncomplaining attitude. She faithfully kept up with friends and family, always looking out for "her people" behind the scenes, with acts of kindness often fully appreciated only later.
