Audrey Lowe Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 22, 2025.
Audrey Lowe, aged 85, of El Lago, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025. She was born on January 4, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Helen and Bently Vaughn.

Audrey grew up at 3531 Meridan Street in Pennsylvania. In her early twenties, she worked as a secretary at Dupont for several years. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Earl Lowe III, while dancing. Audrey and Earl later married on February 6, 1965. In 1969, Earl's company transferred the family to El Lago, Texas, and Audrey managed the move with their three-year-old son, Earl IV, and newborn daughter, Heather. At that time, El Lago was surrounded by woods and Repsdorph was just a two-lane road. Audrey often reflected on how much the area had changed over the years, noting the disappearance of the woods and the addition of the roundabout and four-lanes on Repsdorph took away the once county charm.

During the 1980s, Audrey worked part-time at Hansen Travel on Nasa Road 1 as an Administrative Assistant, while also dedicating herself as a full-time housewife. She maintained a beautiful home and ensured dinner was served at 6:00 PM every evening, with traditional Sunday family dinners being a cherished routine.

Audrey was passionate about gardening and took great pride in keeping an immaculate yard. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, and through her care, witnessed generations of squirrel families in her backyard. Migrating birds would always stop at the Lowe Resort, attracted by the fresh water in the bird bath and the variety of bird seed and peanuts she put out daily. Audrey also loved solving puzzles, especially jumbos, crosswords and word searches, and was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She enjoyed thrillers, mystery movies, and TV shows, and was a fan of the Astros baseball team.

Audrey and Earl were married for 55 years, keeping a tradition of Saturday night date nights at the movies followed by dinner. She loved traveling with Earl, especially their trips to Las Vegas to play the slot machines and their cruises to Alaska and various Caribbean islands.

Audrey was active over the years in the Bay Area Republican Woman organization.

Audrey is survived by her son, Earl Lowe IV of Webster, and her daughter, Heather Lowe of Nassau Bay.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earl Lowe III of El Lago; her mother, Helen Vaughn of El Lago; and her aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Unki Connelly of Philadelphia.

A celebration of Audrey's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
