Audrey Mae Richardson

Audrey Mae Richardson, born on October 9, 1935, in Swan Quarter, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home in Norfolk, Virginia on August 1, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was 88 years old.
Audrey was a devoted homemaker and loving mother who found joy in cooking, sewing, and gardening. Her career saw her excel as both a Manager in Retail and in Contractor Sales. She took great pride in her work and was highly respected by her colleagues and clients alike.
A graduate of Cradock High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, Audrey further enriched her life through her involvement with the ODU Women's Club and her role as an ODU-NATO Liasion. She was baptized in the Presbyterian Church and, for a time, was a cherished member of Second Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.
Audrey is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Cahoon; her mother, Gwendolyn Williams; her twin brother, Aubrey R. Cahoon; and her sister, Charlotte A. Ayscue. She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish her memory: her son, John H. Richardson; her daughter, Kathleen Richardson Pell; her grandchildren, Virginia G. Blaisdell, Autumn G. Pell, and Reagan A. Richardson; and her great-grandchild, Charlotte A. Blaisdell. Audrey is also survived by her sisters, Linda C. Gray and Bennie Gayle Ames; her daughter-in-law, Shim H. Richardson, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Audrey will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her beauty and kindness. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be sorely missed.
