Pittsburg - Audrey Louise Shriver Smith passed away on October 19, 2024 in Pittsburg, Kansas surrounded by her family.

She was born to John F. and Alpha (Freund) Shriver on December 10, 1935, in Gardner, Kansas. At a young age her family moved to Pittsburg where she attended Pittsburg Public Schools. After High School she attended Pittsburg State University (formerly known as KSTC) where she was a Majorette for the KSTC Marching Gorillas, and a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.

On December 2, 1955, she married her only boyfriend and the love of her life, Harley R. Smith. They spent sixty-five years together raising their three children in Kansas towns, Pittsburg, and Olathe, before moving to Dallas, Texas.

Audrey returned to Pittsburg in 2021 after the death of her beloved husband. She was a woman who always put her family and friends before herself. Being involved in the lives of her family members were of the utmost importance to her and Harley. She was a doting grandmother and great grandmother, who was always available for weekend sleepovers with her grandchildren. Later in life she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and of Presbyterian faith. Audrey always loved reuniting with PHS classmates for monthly luncheons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two infant children, Mark Allen, and Janet Louise.

She is survived by her adult children: Lynda S. Wilkinson (Wendell) of Pittsburg, Ken R. Smith (Amy Gulley) of Evergreen, Colorado, and Leesa A. Sullivan (Patrick) of Flower Mound, Texas. Mema is also survived by her six grandchildren: Kyle Wilkinson, Cody Wilkinson, Tyler Sullivan, Ashley Porter, Alexis Cason, and Alyssa Smith, as well as her twelve great grandchildren, and her kitty Keke.

Words cannot express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Carrington Place Senior Living for making her feel at home over the last three years. A special thank you to Harry Hynes Hospice for their special care the last 6 months of her life.

Audrey was not a fan of funerals so per her request there will not be any services. She will be laid to rest next to her husband. To honor Audrey's life the family suggests a donation to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
